June 1, 2012- Five years ago, today, Noah Mayer was added as a cast member of As the World Turns. He came in as a shy, closeted young man who is clearly sweet. He’s enamored by Maddie Coleman, but it’s easy to see the chemistry between Noah and Luke Snyder. As his storyline progresses, we see him discovering his sexuality. This discovery culminates in a kiss with Luke. He plays of this first kiss as a joke, but later recants. We learn that Noah fears that his father will never accept him, so he won’t live life as a gay man.

Eventually, Noah is able to admit to Maddie that he has feelings for Luke. Maddie tells Noah he could have a good relationship with Luke if he would just let himself. He goes to thank Luke for his help in understanding himself. Luke says something about needing to study for a test, and Noah places his hand on Luke’s. The two share their second kiss. 

I could write a large book on Noah and his development through the series. Needless to say, without Noah Mayer, ATWT would not have had its monumental day-time same-sex kiss. Without Noah, the soap opera world may never have had a gay supercouple. Without Noah, Nuke fans around the world would never have existed (and I just can’t envision a world without the Nuke fandom).

Would They Work Wednesday?

Christian Mann from Verbotene Liebe and Scotty Wandell from Brothers and Sisters. I think that Scotty is sort of the American version of Oliver…they might work out (even though I could never truly ship anyone with Christian except Oliver). What do you think?
